Position Overview
The Deputy Manager – Electrical shall be responsible for planning, execution,
monitoring, and coordination of all electrical construction and commissioning
activities at the project site to ensure timely and high-quality project
completion. The role includes supervision of electrical installation works,
contractor management, material planning, testing, commissioning support, and
coordination with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance
with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
The incumbent will play a key role in identifying project risks, resolving
execution bottlenecks, and ensuring timely achievement of project milestones
and Commercial Operation Date (COD).
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning, Execution & Site Readiness
• Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly work plans for electrical
construction activities.
• Assess site readiness, manpower availability, material status, and equipment
requirements to align with project schedules.
• Coordinate timely mobilization of manpower, tools, equipment, and
subcontractors.
• Supervise electrical installation activities including module
interconnection, inverter installation, HT/LT cabling, transformer erection,
switchyard works, SCADA, and communication systems.
• Monitor daily progress against approved schedules and take corrective
actions to mitigate delays.
• Conduct daily review meetings with contractors and site teams.
• Maintain daily progress reports, site logs, and project documentation.
• Escalate critical issues, risks, and deviations to the Construction Manager
with recommended mitigation measures.
2. Electrical Construction Management
• Supervise installation and erection of inverters, transformers, switchgear,
RMUs, HT/LT panels, SCADA systems, weather stations, and associated electrical
infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, BOQs,
and engineering standards.
• Monitor cable laying, termination, testing, earthing, lightning protection
systems, and switchyard activities.
• Verify contractor measurements and execution quantities.
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources and construction equipment.
3. Coordination with EPC Partners & Internal Teams
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, OEMs, and internal project
teams.
• Liaise with engineering teams for drawing approvals and technical
clarifications.
• Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely
availability of materials and equipment.
• Work closely with civil, quality, safety, and commissioning teams for
seamless project execution.
4. Material Management & Quality Assurance
• Monitor receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of electrical materials.
• Verify material specifications, test certificates, and quality
documentation.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with approved QA/QC procedures.
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, and closure of NCRs.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards during installation and commissioning
activities.
5. Safety Compliance & Site Discipline
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and statutory safety
regulations.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and risk assessments in
coordination with HSE personnel.
• Ensure implementation of electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout
(LOTO), permit-to-work systems, and PPE compliance.
• Promote a strong safety culture among contractors and workers.
6. Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination
• Coordinate with utility authorities, consultants, contractors, and statutory
agencies for inspections and approvals.
• Support connectivity-related activities, synchronization approvals, and
utility inspections.
• Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders to avoid project
delays.
7. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of electrical
systems.
• Coordinate testing of transformers, switchgear, protection systems, SCADA,
communication systems, and HT/LT networks.
• Assist in grid synchronization, charging activities, and utility
coordination.
• Ensure closure of punch points before project handover.
• Prepare commissioning records, as-built documents, and handover dossiers for
O&M teams.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of electrical construction, testing, and commissioning
activities.
• Experience in utility-scale solar projects, substations, transmission
systems, and power evacuation infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, layouts, BOQs, and
technical specifications.
• Strong contractor management and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards, statutory regulations, and quality
requirements.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project reporting tools.
• Experience in EPC and IPP project environments preferred.
