Position Overview
The Deputy Manager – Quality shall be responsible for establishing,
implementing, monitoring, and maintaining quality assurance and quality
control systems for all project activities. The role will ensure that all
civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning works are
executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications,
contract requirements, applicable standards, and statutory regulations.
The incumbent shall closely coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants,
vendors, project execution teams, and commissioning teams to ensure
defect-free execution, timely closure of observations, and successful project
completion. The role requires proactive identification of quality risks,
implementation of preventive measures, and continuous improvement initiatives
to achieve the highest standards of project quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Planning & Implementation
• Develop and implement Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection & Test
Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and Quality Procedures.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings,
contractual requirements, and applicable standards.
• Establish quality control processes for civil, structural, electrical, and
commissioning activities.
• Monitor quality performance and recommend improvements where required.
• Conduct periodic quality reviews and audits to ensure compliance with
established procedures.
2. Civil & Structural Quality Control
• Monitor quality of land development, grading, roads, drainage systems,
foundations, RCC works, buildings, and structural installations.
• Verify concrete quality, reinforcement placement, formwork, compaction, and
structural dimensions.
• Review and approve material test reports, cube test results, soil test
reports, and laboratory reports.
• Ensure compliance with approved construction methodologies and
specifications.
• Witness inspections and testing activities conducted by contractors and
laboratories.
3. Electrical & Mechanical Quality Control
• Monitor installation quality of MMS structures, modules, inverters,
transformers, switchgear, HT/LT cabling, earthing, SCADA, and communication
systems.
• Verify compliance with approved engineering drawings, specifications, and
manufacturer
recommendations.
• Conduct inspections during equipment erection, cable laying, termination,
testing, and
commissioning activities.
• Ensure all inspection records and quality documentation are maintained
properly.
4. Material Quality Management
• Inspect incoming materials and equipment at site.
• Verify manufacturer test certificates, inspection reports, warranties, and
compliance documents.
• Ensure only approved materials are utilized for project execution.
• Coordinate with procurement and stores teams regarding material quality
issues.
• Monitor storage conditions to prevent damage or deterioration of materials.
5. Non-Conformance Management
• Identify quality deviations and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Coordinate with contractors and project teams for corrective and preventive
actions (CAPA).
• Monitor closure of NCRs, observations, and punch points within stipulated
timelines.
• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring quality issues.
6. Quality Audits & Documentation
• Conduct internal quality audits and contractor quality audits.
• Maintain comprehensive quality records, inspection reports, checklists, and
test certificates.
• Prepare quality dashboards, weekly reports, and management review reports.
• Ensure proper maintenance of project quality documentation for future audits
and handover.
7. Coordination with EPC Partners & Stakeholders
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, testing agencies, and project
teams for quality
compliance.
• Participate in technical discussions, inspections, and quality review
meetings.
• Support statutory inspections and customer quality audits.
• Facilitate timely resolution of quality-related concerns raised by
stakeholders.
8. Testing, Commissioning & Project Handover
• Ensure all quality requirements are fulfilled prior to commissioning
activities.
• Witness pre-commissioning and commissioning tests.
• Verify completion of punch points and quality observations before handover.
• Review as-built documentation, test reports, and final quality dossiers.
• Support successful project handover to O&M teams.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems, quality management practices, and
inspection methodologies.
• Thorough understanding of civil, structural, electrical, and solar project
quality requirements.
• Knowledge of IS Codes, IEC Standards, CEA Regulations, and industry best
practices.
• Ability to review drawings, specifications, BOQs, material submittals, and
test reports.
• Experience in quality audits, NCR management, CAPA implementation, and root
cause analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, quality management systems, and project
documentation tools.
• Experience in utility-scale solar, transmission, infrastructure, industrial,
or EPC projects preferred.
