Job Title: Site Lead- EHS
Designation: Asst. Manager/ Deputy manager
Qualification: B.E/B.Tech with PGDIS/ADIS
Experience: 7–09 Years (Preferably in Solar Power Plant IPP & EPC)
1. Role Overview
The Site Lead – EHS is responsible for driving the effective implementation,
monitoring, and continual improvement of Health, Safety & Environment
(HSE) systems at the solar project site. The role ensures full compliance with
statutory regulations, organizational policies, client requirements, and
industry best practices throughout construction and commissioning phases.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. EHS Governance & Compliance
•
Implement and maintain the site-specific EHS Management System in line with
ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards.
•
Ensure adherence to all statutory requirements (BOCW Act, Factories Act,
Electricity Act, Environmental regulations, etc.).
•
Maintain updated statutory documentation, permits, licenses, inspection
records, and compliance registers.
B. Risk Assessment & Control
•
Conduct JSA, HIRA, and LOTO compliance checks for all critical activities
(module installation, structure erection, stringing, inverter work, HT/LT
operations, etc.).
•
Identify potential hazards and implement preventive and corrective actions to
reduce risk exposure.
•
Ensure proper barricading, safety signage, and access control across all work
fronts.
C. Site Safety Operations
•
Oversee day-to-day construction activities (module installation, trenching,
cabling, inverter room work, HT line activities) to ensure safe execution.
•
Enforce proper PPE usage and verify availability of certified tools, tackles,
and equipment.
•
Conduct toolbox talks, safety walkdowns, and daily safety briefings.
•
Monitor high-risk operations including working at height, electrical jobs, hot
work, crane/lifting activities, and confined space work.
D. Training & Awareness
•
Deliver EHS induction to all new workers and staff.
•
Conduct periodic refresher training on Work at Height, Electrical Safety,
First Aid, Fire Safety, LOTO, etc.
•
Promote a proactive safety culture through campaigns, observation programs,
and awareness initiatives.
E. Incident Management
•
Lead reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis of incidents, near
misses, and unsafe conditions.
•
Prepare detailed RCA reports and ensure implementation of CAPA.
•
Maintain incident documentation as per company and client standards.
F. Emergency Preparedness
•
Develop and implement a site-specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
•
Organize periodic mock drills (fire, medical emergency, electrocution,
wildlife/snakebite response, etc.).
•
Ensure availability and upkeep of fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and
emergency response equipment.
G. Contractor & Workforce Management
•
Ensure all contractors comply with site EHS requirements and provide necessary
safety supervision.
•
Evaluate contractor EHS performance and drive improvement initiatives.
•
Verify workforce competency for specialized/high-risk tasks (scaffolding,
electrical license holders, riggers, etc.).
H. Documentation & Reporting
•
Maintain comprehensive EHS documentation including permits, checklists,
audits, training records, and inspection reports.
•
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly EHS performance reports for management review.
•
Liaise with client EHS personnel and ensure timely submission of required
documents.
3. Skills & Competencies
•
Strong understanding of solar construction safety practices and standards.
•
In-depth knowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, work at height, lifting
operations, and mechanical safety.
•
Effective communication, training delivery, and safety leadership skills.
•
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and incident-investigation capabilities.
•
Good proficiency in MS Office, digital EHS platforms, and reporting tools.
4. Additional Preferred Requirements
•
Certifications in First Aid, Fire Safety, or Internal Auditor (ISO
45001/14001).
•
Familiarity with digital EHS systems and mobile-based safety applications.
•
Experience in handling client audits, EPC contractor interfaces, and
compliance management.
