AVP-Level Employment Legal Counsel
Job Summary:
As an AVP-Level Employment Legal Counsel at Barclays, you will be an integral
part of the India legal team, responsible for navigating and advising on
employment law across all Barclays India entities. Your expertise will play a
pivotal role in shaping our HR strategies and ensuring compliance within a
dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Advise on employment law matters for all Barclays India entities, ensuring
compliance with multi-state regulations.

Collaborate closely with HR and ER teams to provide practical legal
solutions tailored to the business needs.

Manage litigation related tasks, including overseeing pleadings and
coordinating with external counsel.

Support the design and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate
legal risks associated with employment practices.

Engage in proactive training and guidance for internal stakeholders on
employment law compliance and best practices.

Conduct legal research and analysis to remain current with evolving
employment law trends and regulations.

Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to
facilitate effective legal support across the organization.
Requirements:

Hold a valid LLB or equivalent degree; no exceptions will be made as per
internal legal team policy.

Approximately 8-10 years of legal experience focused on employment law;
in-house counsel backgrounds with significant employment exposure are also
acceptable.

Strong understanding of Indian employment law across multiple states with
practical, solution-oriented experience.

Familiarity with litigation management processes, including oversight of
pleadings and detail-oriented collaboration with external counsel.

Ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively to non-legal
stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced
environment.

Prior experience in a client-facing role within a compliance or advisory
capacity is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:

HR/ER professionals who are qualified lawyers are encouraged to apply.

Background in compliance or experience with Big Four advisory firms,
particularly in employment-related client solutions.

Demonstrated practical experience from law firm work that is
solution-oriented rather than purely advisory.

education.
