AVP : Data Governance

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance & Data Quality Specialist with strong expertise in establishing governance frameworks, managing regulatory data requirements, and ensuring high-quality data across enterprise systems. The ideal candidate brings 9+ years of experience in Data Governance/Data Quality, strong SQL capabilities, and hands-on exposure to regulatory reporting within the FinTech/Banking domain .

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Framework Management

• Lead the end-to-end Data Governance lifecycle , including data discovery, metadata management, data lineage, data quality controls, and stewardship processes.
• Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and operating models across business and technology teams.
• Partner with data owners, stewards, and SMEs to ensure adherence to governance frameworks and regulatory expectations.
• Drive adoption of governance tools and best practices across the organization.

Data Quality Management

• Design and implement data quality rules, scorecards, and monitoring frameworks for critical data elements.
• Perform root-cause analysis for data quality issues and drive remediation with cross-functional teams.
• Establish automated data validation, reconciliation, and exception-handling processes.

Regulatory Reporting & Compliance

• Work closely with compliance, risk, and regulatory teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of regulatory reports .
• Manage data requirements for regulators such as RBI, SEBI, MAS, or global banking regulators.
• Ensure traceability, auditability, and documentation of data used for regulatory submissions.

Technical Expertise

• Write complex SQL queries (6+ years hands-on) for data profiling, validation, and quality checks.
• Work with large datasets across cloud and distributed environments.
• Good-to-have experience in:
  • PySpark / Python for data processing and automation
  • Snowflake / Databricks for cloud data engineering and governance workflows

Stakeholder & Project Management

• Collaborate with business, technology, compliance, and risk teams to align governance initiatives.
• Lead governance and quality improvement projects end-to-end.
• Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Required Skills & Experience

• 9+ years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality functions.
• Strong understanding of the Data Governance lifecycle , frameworks, and industry best practices.
• FinTech/Banking domain experience is mandatory .
• Proven experience working with regulators and managing regulatory data submissions.
• 6+ years of hands-on SQL experience.
• Experience with PySpark/Python – good to have.
• Experience with Snowflake / Databricks – good to have.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and drive governance adoption.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
