Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to
determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s electrical engineering
aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of
electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve
technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s
electrical engineering aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods,
techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making
adaptations and modifications
Participates in the design, development and modification of components and
processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of
electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs),
design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
Coordinates electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty
groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction
and other functional groups
Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
Provides technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact
with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the
resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and
complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as
they arise during project execution
Education and Experience Requirements:
A recognized bachelor's/master's degree in electrical engineering, from an
accredited college or university with an overall experience of minimum 12
years.
Site experience will be an added advantage
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive Knowledge of electrical system studies using ETAP/EasyPower software
and conversant with short circuit, load flow, motor starting & voltage
drop calculations, main single line diagram, protection & metering
diagrams, relay setting & protection coordination of the system, Emergency
Diesel Generator Sizing, Underground cable sizing, Grounding.
Should possess good knowledge of international codes & standards.
Should have worked on equipment sizing, specifications, MR preparation,
technical bid evaluation and vendor print reviews of various electrical
equipment like Switchyard, Generator Step-Up Transformer, Busduct, MV & LV
switchgear, MCCs, power & distribution transformers, DC systems / UPS,
Cables, generator circuit breaker, bus duct, lighting fixtures.
Review of 3D Model in S3D and Autodesk Revit using SPR or Navisworks and be a
stakeholder in 30%, 50% and 90% Model Reviews with Client, Vendor and Sub
Contractors.
Vendor Prints Review of Mechanical packages.
Preparation of three Line Diagrams & Logic Diagrams, Overall Single Line
Diagrams, conversant with electrical layouts like raceways, lighting,
grounding & lightning protection, Switchyard layouts etc.
Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.Knowledge of inter
discipline coordination.
Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
Skill in oral and written communication, demonstrated skill in leadership.
