Job Summary:
The Head of Inventory is responsible for developing and executing inventory
strategies to ensure optimum product availability while minimizing inventory
carrying costs. The role oversees inventory planning, replenishment, stock
accuracy, warehouse inventory, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization
across fulfilment centres, dark stores, and distribution hubs. The incumbent
will work closely with Category, Procurement, Supply Chain, Warehouse
Operations, Finance, and Technology teams to deliver industry-leading
inventory performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement enterprise-wide inventory management strategies.

Optimize inventory levels to balance product availability and working
capital.

Establish inventory norms based on demand patterns and business objectives.

Drive inventory planning across warehouses, fulfilment centres, and dark
stores.

Lead seasonal, promotional, and festive inventory planning.
Demand Forecasting & Replenishment

Collaborate with Category, Buying, and Demand Planning teams to improve
forecast accuracy.

Design replenishment models to maintain optimal stock levels.
-
Reduce stock-outs, overstock, and dead inventory.

Monitor SKU-level inventory health and recommend corrective actions.
Inventory Operations

Ensure inventory accuracy through robust cycle counting and stock audits.

Standardize inventory control processes across all locations.

Drive inventory reconciliation and root cause analysis for stock variances.

Ensure compliance with inventory SOPs and audit requirements.
Warehouse & Fulfilment Coordination

Partner with Warehouse Operations to ensure efficient inventory movement.

Optimize inventory allocation across fulfilment centres.
-
Improve inventory availability while reducing order cancellations.

Support warehouse automation and inventory digitization initiatives.
Inventory Optimization

Monitor inventory aging and liquidation plans.
-
Reduce excess and obsolete inventory.

Improve inventory turnover and sell-through rates.
-
Optimize safety stock based on demand variability and supplier lead times.
Technology & Automation
-
Lead implementation of Inventory Management Systems (IMS) and WMS
enhancements.

Drive automation through AI/ML-based forecasting and replenishment tools.

Improve inventory visibility through dashboards and real-time reporting.

Collaborate with Product and Technology teams for system improvements.
Stakeholder Management

Partner with Procurement, Category Management, Finance, Logistics, and
Operations.

Present inventory performance and strategic recommendations to senior
leadership.

Align inventory plans with business growth and expansion initiatives.
Team Leadership

Build and lead high-performing inventory planning and control teams.

Mentor managers and analysts.

Establish performance goals and development plans.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or Business.
