Role Overview

The Assistant Manager – GST & Indirect Taxation will be responsible for managing GST compliance, filings, reconciliations, and supporting the plant finance team in ensuring adherence to indirect tax regulations. The role requires coordination with internal departments, tax consultants, and government authorities to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.

Key Responsibilities

GST Compliance & Filings

• Preparation and filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B reconciliation) .
• Ensure timely compliance with GST regulations and statutory requirements.
• Monitor input tax credit (ITC) eligibility and utilization.
• Maintain proper documentation for GST audits and assessments.

Reconciliation & Reporting

• Perform GST reconciliation with books of accounts and vendor data .
• Reconcile GSTR-2B with purchase register and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare periodic GST reports and compliance summaries for management.

Tax Assessment & Audit

• Support GST audits, departmental notices, and assessments .
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants for compliance matters.
• Prepare responses to GST notices and queries from tax authorities .

Process & Control

• Ensure proper tax compliance in procurement, sales, and logistics transactions .
• Review invoices to ensure correct GST classification, HSN codes, and tax rates .
• Support implementation of internal controls for GST processes .

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with accounts, procurement, logistics, and plant finance teams .
• Provide guidance to internal teams on GST implications on transactions .

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of GST laws and indirect taxation .
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/Tally) and Excel.
• Good analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to handle tax compliance for manufacturing/plant operations .
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in manufacturing or FMCG industry .
• Exposure to plant finance or factory accounting environment .
• Knowledge of GST audits and departmental assessments .
