State Income Tax - Job Description

Prepare complex state tax returns and related filings.

Review routine to moderately complex state tax returns, including state
income tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments.

Drive the state income tax compliance process and serve as the liaison with
PwC.

Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.

Develop general corporate tax technical expertise, as well as specialized
insurance state tax knowledge.

Conduct research on complex tax issues and proposed transactions, document
conclusions in memos, and present findings.

Analyze complex financial information and prepare and review deliverables
for the state tax financial reporting process.

Monitor key state tax legislative developments and communicate relevant
changes to the company.

Assist in managing audits by state and local tax authorities and responding
to state notices; draft correspondence to state taxing authorities.
Work toward becoming the primary point of contact for SIT notices by:

Ensuring all SIT notices are progressing appropriately and following up with
staff and approvers as needed each week.

Reporting on the health of the SIT notice process to managers.

Highlighting issues, concerns, roadblocks, and wins.

Ensuring logs are synced weekly and coordinating with PwC.

Assigning out all SIT notices.
Support the implementation of cost-effective tax planning strategies designed
to create value and optimize the company’s worldwide tax position.
Act as a mentor to staff members through training, coaching, and performance
feedback.
