Role Purpose
The HR Associate Manager / Manager will be based out of Mozambique and will be
responsible for driving the complete
HR agenda — talent acquisition, HR operations, compliance, compensation
& benefits, and talent management — across
Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. The role requires a hands-on HR generalist
comfortable managing multi-country HR
operations independently, ensuring compliance with local labour laws, and
acting as a strategic partner to business leaders
across the three markets.
Key Responsibilities
HR Business Partnering (Core Focus)
Act as a strategic HR partner to business leaders across Mozambique, Zimbabwe,
and Zambia.
Drive workforce planning, organization design, and talent strategy across the
three countries.
Support leadership in performance management, succession planning, and
capability building.
Provide guidance on employee relations, engagement, and retention strategies.
Partner with leadership to drive culture and organizational effectiveness
across the region.
HR Operations & Compliance
Oversee end-to-end HR operations including onboarding, payroll coordination,
employee lifecycle management, and
offboarding across Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
Ensure compliance with local labour laws and statutory regulations in
Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
Manage audits, documentation, and HR policies in line with statutory
requirements in each country.
Drive standardization and automation of HR processes across the region.
Liaise with local legal/statutory consultants and authorities as required in
each country of operation.
Compensation & Benefits
Support compensation benchmarking and structuring aligned with market
standards across the three markets.
Manage incentive plans, benefits administration, and annual appraisal cycles.
Ensure equitable and compliant compensation practices across Mozambique,
Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
Talent Management & Engagement
Lead employee engagement initiatives and organizational development programs
across the region.
Identify training needs and drive L&D interventions.
Manage grievance handling and disciplinary processes as per local laws in each
country.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, and
Operations.
Act as a bridge between Corporate HR and regional teams in Mozambique,
Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
Talent Acquisition (Core Focus)
Lead end-to-end recruitment for Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia across
business, operations, and support functions.
Partner with business leaders to understand hiring needs and build workforce
plans.
Manage the complete recruitment lifecycle including sourcing, screening,
interviews, offer negotiation, and onboarding.
Manage external vendors, consultants, and recruitment agencies across the
three markets.
Candidate Requirements
5–8 years of relevant HR experience, including exposure to
Africa/multi-country HR operations.
Must have strong knowledge of Mozambique labour laws; working knowledge of
Zimbabwe and Zambia labour laws
preferred.
Prior working exposure in Mozambique is mandatory; experience managing
Zimbabwe and/or Zambia HR operations is a
strong plus.
Hands-on experience working on Excel and HRMS platforms (preferred: Keka).
Exposure to handling HR operations across multiple international geographies
will be preferred.
Portuguese language proficiency is mandatory (official language of
Mozambique); English proficiency required for
coordination with Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Corporate HR.
Willingness to travel regularly across Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
The candidate should be open to exploring and managing HR operations across
other international locations as well.
