The Physical Security Engineer is responsible for the design,
implementation, integration, administration, and support of enterprise
physical security systems across global locations. This role serves as the
technical Engineer for video surveillance, access control, and related
security technologies, ensuring scalable, reliable, and compliant
solutions that align with business and operational requirements. The
position requires deep expertise in Genetec Security Center architecture,
enterprise infrastructure, security system integrations, and
cross-functional project coordination.
Set up camera roles, streams (H.264/H.265), and frame rates.
Configure Archivers and storage management.
Set up Federation if integrating multiple sites.
Synergis (Access Control)
Configure Synergis Cloud Link / Access Controllers.
Add doors, readers, input/output modules.
Create access rules, schedules, and cardholder groups.
Integrate elevator access control.
Configure anti-pass back and interlocking rules.
3. Identity and Access Management
Create operator roles and privileges.
Configure partition-based access.
Implement least privilege access principles.
Manage Active Directory integration.
Enforce password policies and multi-factor authentication.
4. System Integration & Automation
Architect and implement integrations between Genetec Security Center and
enterprise platforms including HR systems, middleware, and other
business applications.
Develop custom reports, workflows, and automation solutions utilizing
Genetec SDK and related development tools.
Evaluate emerging technologies, plugins, and third-party integrations to
enhance system functionality and operational efficiency.
Recommend technology improvements and automation opportunities to
optimize enterprise security operations.
5. Technical Support & Escalation
Provide Tier II and Tier III support enterprise physical security
systems.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for site contacts,
system integrators, and support teams.
Manage security platform upgrades, patching activities, and maintenance
windows while coordinating outage communications.
Perform root-cause analysis and support incident investigations to
identify and resolve system issues.
Provide technical support for facilities-related IT systems and security
applications.
6. Reporting & Documentation
Generate access reports (who accessed what & when).
Provide video audit trails.
Maintain system documentation (IP schemes, rack layouts).
Create SOPs for operators.
Prepare compliance reports (ISO, SOC, GDPR where applicable).
7. Testing & Commissioning for projects
Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
Conduct SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
Validate failover functionality.
Test alarm workflows and automation.
Ensure customers sign off documentation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology, Business,
Computer Science, or a related technical discipline; equivalent
experience will be considered.
6-8 years of experience working with enterprise physical security
systems, including video surveillance and access control technologies.
Experience designing, implementing, commissioning, and maintaining
large-scale security system deployments and understanding of privacy
laws.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for system design documentation, layouts, and
engineering drawings.
Familiarity with scripting, automation, APIs, SDK development, and
cloud-based technologies.
Understanding of enterprise networking concepts including LAN, WAN,
TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
Experience with Windows server infrastructure, virtualization, storage
systems, and high-availability architectures.
Understanding of ONVIF and IP camera protocols and door access control
controllers.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both
technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Genetec Security Center certifications.
Experience with enterprise access control and video management platforms
in global environments.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles related to physical security
systems.
Experience integrating security systems with HR, identity management,
and enterprise workflow platforms.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and continuous
improvement frameworks.
