Global Engineering Services (GES) is a corporate shared services organization based at GTC Bangalore, providing engineering services and solutions to global product design teams. GES acts as a strategic service and solution partner, supporting product engineering organizations across regions.

The Centralized Packaging Design (CPD) team, part of GES, partners closely with Product Engineering teams to transform packaging through innovation‑driven and cost‑effective design solutions. CPD focuses on delivering first‑time‑right packaging designs by providing end‑to‑end packaging design and engineering support, from concept development through validation and implementation.

Who You Are (Qualifications & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering. Master’s degree in Packaging would be preferable.
  • Min 2 years of experience in packaging design & development.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials such as corrugated boxes, plastics, foams, and protective materials.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with ISTA, ASTM, and ISO standards applicable to packaging.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in sustainability and/or regulatory affairs related to packaging is strongly preferred.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with New Packaging Development processes, including design, prototyping, and testing.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of electromechanical products, components and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling and drafting tools preferably Siemens NX, Team Center and PLM/PDM would be an added advantage.

What You Will Do (Core Responsibilities)

  • Provide end-to-end packaging design, development, and validation support for both new and existing products, ensuring optimized, compliant, and cost-effective solutions aligned with Molex global supply chain standards.
  • Select appropriate packaging materials based on product requirements, transportation conditions, regulatory needs, and cost targets.
  • Optimize packaging designs to enhance product protection, storage efficiency, and transportation effectiveness.
  • Conduct packaging validation tests, including drop, vibration, compression, and environmental testing, to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Analyze test results and implement design improvements to enhance packaging reliability and compliance.
  • Drive standardization of packaging designs and materials wherever feasible to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Support value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve cost optimization without compromising quality or performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure seamless packaging integration.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for packaging materials, tooling development, and technical alignment.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring timely packaging development and implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, BOMs, and work instructions, ensuring accurate data management in PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
  • Understand and incorporate customer-specific packaging requirements and industry standards into design solutions.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers on packaging-related queries and improvements.
  • Participate in project reviews and team meetings, providing regular updates on packaging development progress.
  • Engage in frequent visits to Molex India plants to support packaging development activities from prototyping through production.
  • Contributes to both design center activities and packaging R&D initiatives, including alternative material identification, testing, validation, and implementation.
