As a Product Design Engineer, you will
lead
and
execute
the design and development of plastic and sheet metal components for
connector products. You will play a key role in design modification
projects, product maintenance, SPO projects, VAVE initiatives, and
selected new product development activities. This role requires close
collaboration with cross‑functional teams while consistently demonstrating
Principle‑Based Management (PBM) aligned behaviors such as ownership,
value creation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

You will be part of the MSBU group, specializing in the design and
manufacturing of connectors for consumer applications.
Our product portfolio includes FPC/FFC, BB, and IO connectors.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Design Execution
·
Own and support assigned products within the existing product portfolio,
providing technical accountability for design quality
·
Independently drive design modification, new development, product
maintenance, VAVE, incremental improvement, and SPO projects
·
Participate in and support new product development activities, from
concept through release
·
Lead the design and development of plastic and sheet metal components for
connector products
Advanced Mechanical Design & Validation
·
Execute and review detailed mechanical designs ensuring functional,
dimensional, and manufacturability requirements are met
·
Create and review 3D models and 2D drawings, applying appropriate GD&T
based on functional needs
·
Perform and review tolerance stack‑up analysis to ensure robust fit, form,
and assembly performance
·
Actively participate in DFMEA activities, identifying risks and
implementing mitigation actions
·
Support and review FEA results to validate designs and drive improvements
·
Lead or support material selection considering performance, reliability,
cost, and manufacturability
Manufacturing & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
·
Drive DFM/DFA initiatives to improve manufacturability, assembly
efficiency, yield, and cost
·
Work closely with manufacturing plants, quality, and supply chain to
resolve design, tooling, and production issues
·
Support tooling development, production ramp‑up, and sustaining
engineering activities.
Project & Knowledge Leadership
·
Manage design tasks and deliverables with minimal supervision, meeting
project timelines and quality targets
·
Identify technical risks early and implement corrective actions
·
Prepare and maintain design documentation, engineering change records, and
technical reports
·
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge
sharing
·
Communicate design intent, status, risks, and recommendations effectively
across teams
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
·
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
·
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in product or mechanical design.
·
Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end product development process,
including production support
·
Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and
standards
·
Experience in tolerance analysis, GD&T, DFMEA, DFM/DFA.
·
Hands‑on experience with plastic injection molding and sheet metal
manufacturing processes
·
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause analysis skills
·
Able to work independently while collaborating effectively in
cross‑functional environments
·
Strong written and verbal communication skills

5+ years of hands‑on experience in product design and sustaining
engineering
·
Experience in plastic and sheet metal connector design for high‑volume or
precision products
·
Proven involvement in VAVE, SPO, or cost‑reduction initiatives
·
Practical collaboration with manufacturing plants and suppliers
·
Ability to adapt quickly, mentor junior engineers, and act as a design
focal point
