Caring. Connecting. Growing together.
Primary Responsibilities:
Core SDET Responsibilities (Tool-Agnostic)
-
Quality Engineering & Test Strategy
-
Translate business requirements into testable acceptance criteria;
define test strategy across unit, API, UI, and end-to-end (E2E)
-
Build a risk-based test plan focusing on business-critical flows, edge
cases, and negative scenarios
-
Establish shift-left practices: collaborate with developers to add
unit/integration tests early; advocate testability in design (IDs,
accessibility, deterministic APIs)
-
Automation & Frameworks
-
Design and maintain modular, maintainable automation frameworks (page
object or screen-play pattern, data-driven tests, fixtures, utilities)
-
Implement parallel test execution, selective test runs (tags), and
stable waits to minimize flakiness
-
Integrate with CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins): test
gating, environment provisioning, artifacts (videos, HAR,
screenshots), and reporting
-
Quality Signals & Observability
-
Own quality metrics: coverage %, pass rate, mean time to detect
(MTTD), mean time to repair (MTTR), failure classification (test vs
product)
Instrument test telemetry: capture logs, network traces, performance
timings, accessibility checks; publish dashboards
-
Environment & Data
-
Provision test environments (Docker/Azure containers), seed synthetic
test data, manage test accounts, stub/mocks for third-party
integrations
-
Handle configuration & secrets securely (env vars, Key Vault)
-
Non-Functional
-
Basic performance checks (TTFB, Largest Contentful Paint for UI
flows), resource usage under test loads
-
Security basics during tests (XSS injection attempts,
authentication/authorization boundary tests), without replacing formal
security testing
-
Collaboration & Governance
-
Code reviews for test code; enforce coding standards, linters, and
test reliability gates.
-
Document test approach, coverage maps, and known gaps; mentor
engineers on automation best practices
-
Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company
policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not
limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations,
change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of
work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and
other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment).
The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in
its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise)
on its ability to do so
