Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and highly accomplished Manager- Purchase to lead our purchasing unit. In this leadership role, you will steer the respective purchasing (PUR) unit, drive innovation, elevate category management maturity, and optimize value contribution across our business divisions and service lines (DIV/SERV). You will be directly responsible for high-level supplier relationship management, talent development, and robust risk management while ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental principles.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Unit Leadership

Steer the PUR Unit: Manage and provide strategic direction to the assigned purchasing unit.
Enhance Category Maturity: Elevate category management practices to actively contribute to DIV/SERV corporate goals.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Oversee and execute an active Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle for continuous process optimization.

Pipeline Management & Innovation

Source Pipeline Alignment: Define and agree upon the category team's annual sourcing project pipeline with DIV/SERV stakeholders.
Deliver Value Solutions: Propose and implement new value-add solutions and innovations customized for the respective business divisions.
Track Financial Impact: Establish agreed-upon targets for expected savings and overall value contribution together with DIV/SERV.

Supplier & Risk Management

Strategic Supplier Relations: Manage high-level relationships with key and strategic suppliers.
Escalation & Networks: Handle critical supplier escalation management and actively build external strategic networks.
Supply Risk Mitigation: Implement robust supply risk management frameworks and execute appropriate corrective actions when necessary.

People & Performance Management

Talent Development: Drive talent management within the PUR unit, providing direct coaching to category managers and team members.
Monitor KPIs: Monitor and control key performance indicators including savings/value contribution, average payment conditions, and PUR volume within active category strategies.
HSE Compliance: Ensure absolute compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) principles across all procurement operations.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

Experience & Education

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic procurement, with a proven track record in a leadership or directorial capacity.
Expertise: Deep knowledge of advanced category management frameworks, strategic sourcing processes, and contract negotiations.

Key Competencies

Stakeholder Management: Exceptional capability to interface with and influence senior division and service line leaders (DIV/SERV).
Leadership & Coaching: Proven ability to mentor, coach, and elevate the skills of category managers.
Analytical Skills: Strong financial acumen with experience tracking complex metrics like PUR volume, payment cycles, and bottom-line savings.
Risk Management: Competence in identifying global supply risks and establishing proactive mitigation strategies.

Financial Value: Total savings and broader value contribution generated against corporate targets.
Working Capital Optimization: Maximizing and improving the average payment conditions with suppliers.
Strategic Alignment: Percentage of purchasing volume covered under active, compliant category strategies.
