Azure Data Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Azure Data Engineer to join our team in Sandton,
Johannesburg for a 12-month contract with potential for permanent placement.
This role plays a critical part in harnessing data capabilities to drive
business insights and support strategic initiatives, allowing you to make a
significant impact on our data-driven objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement robust ETL processes utilizing Azure Data Factory,
Databricks, and Synapse Analytics.

Execute data analysis and exploration using T-SQL to derive meaningful
insights.

Develop and maintain automated tests for data pipelines to ensure data
integrity and reliability.

Utilize strong SQL programming skills to create stored procedures and
functions that support data operations.

Apply data warehousing methodologies, such as Kimball and Data Vault 2.0, to
optimize data structures.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and
influence project outcomes.

Ensure compliance with data governance practices and promote awareness of
tools such as Azure Purview.
Requirements:

Minimum 7 years of overall experience in data engineering, with at least 3-4
years of expertise in Azure data technologies.

Proficiency in Python for ETL development and data manipulation within
Databricks.

Strong experience in SQL, particularly with writing functions and stored
procedures.

Demonstrated history of building and maintaining efficient ETL processes.

Familiarity with Azure data products including Data Factory, Synapse
Analytics, and ADLS Gen2.

Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen ability to
think critically.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage
stakeholders effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with using source control and Azure DevOps for project
management.

Knowledge of deployment pipelines and CI/CD practices within Azure
environments.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure in a
team-oriented environment.

Strong organizational skills and self-motivation to independently drive
project deliverables.

Awareness of data governance practices and the principles of treating
customers fairly.
