Senior AS400 / IBM i Infrastructure & Failover Engineer

Role Overview We are seeking a Senior AS400 / IBM i Infrastructure & Failover Engineer with strong experience in core banking and financial services environments. The role focuses on infrastructure resilience, disaster recovery (DR) readiness, and automation of failover and failback processes to ensure high availability of mission-critical systems. Candidate should have mandate Synon skills as well. NumberofPosition:1 Experience in years: 8–12 years Location : Remote Duration : Min 6 Months Key Responsibilities • Manage and support AS400 / IBM i infrastructure in high-availability and mission-critical environments. • Design, implement, and maintain failover and failback strategies for AS400 systems. • Lead Disaster Recovery (DR) preparedness, including environment readiness, DR drills, and validation exercises. • Ensure DR environments are always in a ready state (infrastructure, replication, connectivity, access, and documentation). • Automate failover and failback processes to reduce manual intervention and recovery time. • Work closely with core banking and financial services application teams to align infrastructure resilience with business requirements. • Monitor system performance, availability, and replication health across primary and DR sites. • Prepare and maintain DR runbooks, SOPs, and compliance documentation. • Support audits, regulatory requirements, and risk assessments relevant to BFSI environments. • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills & Experience • Strong hands-on experience with AS400 / IBM i infrastructure administration. • Proven expertise in infrastructure failover and failback mechanisms. • Solid background in core banking systems or financial services (BFSI) environments. • Experience in DR planning, environment readiness, and execution of DR drills. • Hands-on experience in automating failover/failback (scripts, tools, or orchestration platforms). • Good understanding of high availability (HA), replication, and business continuity concepts. • Ability to work in production-critical, regulated environments with minimal downtime tolerance. Good to Have • Experience with banking regulators, audits, and compliance requirements. • Exposure to DR automation tools or orchestration frameworks. • Experience working with 24x7 production support models.
