Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and motivated DevOps Frontend Engineer with
hands-on experience in Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), Storefront
Reference Architecture (SFRA), and PWA Kit development. The ideal
candidate brings strong experience in React.js, Next.js, and TypeScript,
with a solid understanding of server-side rendering, REST API integration,
performance optimization, and SFCC-specific deployment and CICD workflows.
This role is responsible for building high-performance, scalable, and
accessible e-commerce storefronts while ensuring smooth build, release,
and deployment processes within the SFCC ecosystem. You will collaborate
closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, backend engineers, QA
teams, and platform teams to deliver production-ready digital commerce
solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
•
Develop, maintain, and extend e-commerce storefronts using SFRA
(Storefront Reference Architecture) and PWA Kit on Salesforce Commerce
Cloud.
•
Build reusable React components, custom hooks, and shared libraries
following PWA Kit conventions and SFCC best practices.
•
Translate UI/UX designs from Figma or Adobe XD into pixel-perfect,
responsive, and accessible storefront pages.
•
Work with Next.js and PWA Kit SSR patterns including server-side
rendering, static generation, routing, middleware, and API routes.
•
Integrate storefronts with SFCC APIs including SCAPI (Shopper APIs),
OCAPI, and Einstein Recommendations APIs using RESTful patterns.
•
Implement and manage frontend state using PWA Kit hooks (useProduct,
useBasket, useCustomer) and React patterns such as Context API or React
Query for server state management.
•
Build and maintain ISML templates, controllers, and pipeline logic within
the SFRA cartridge stack.
•
Optimize storefront performance for Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP)
targeting Google Search ranking improvements.
•
Implement lazy loading, code splitting, image optimization, and bundle
optimization techniques.
•
Implement structured data (JSON-LD), meta tags, canonical URLs,
robots.txt, and sitemap.xml for SEO and AI crawler readiness.
•
Manage resource sequencing and script loading strategies to maximize page
load performance.
•
Use Lighthouse and Web Vitals tooling to continuously monitor and improve
frontend performance.
•
Manage SFCC cartridge deployments across sandbox, staging, UAT, and
production environments using sfcc-ci CLI and WebDAV-based workflows.
•
Configure and maintain build pipelines for SFRA and PWA Kit using npm/pnpm
scripts, Webpack, and SFCC-specific build tooling.
•
Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for frontend applications using tools
such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Bitbucket
Pipelines.
•
Manage environment-specific configurations using SFCC Site Preferences,
custom site preferences, and environment variable strategies in PWA Kit
Managed Runtime.
•
Deploy and manage PWA Kit applications on Salesforce Managed Runtime
including bundle pushes and environment promotion.
•
Configure SFCC CDN caching strategies, cache invalidation, and page-level
cache headers.
•
Troubleshoot build failures, deployment issues, storefront bugs, and
production incidents within the SFCC platform.
•
Ensure code quality through structured code reviews, ESLint/Prettier
enforcement, and SFCC cartridge best practices.
•
Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following SFRA cartridge
hierarchy and PWA Kit extensibility patterns.
•
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily
stand-ups, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
•
Collaborate with backend, QA, and platform teams for end-to-end feature
delivery on the SFCC platform.
Qualifications & Skills
•
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology,
Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also
be considered.
•
3 to 6 years of professional experience in frontend e-commerce development
with a minimum of 2 years hands-on on Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC).
•
Strong hands-on experience with SFRA (Storefront Reference Architecture)
including cartridge development, controller pipelines, ISML templates, and
the SFRA plugin/hooks pattern.
•
Experience with PWA Kit development including React components, custom
hooks, page router, API clients, and Managed Runtime deployment.
•
Solid understanding of SFCC platform concepts: Business Manager
configuration, site preferences, content assets, page designer, catalog
management, and promotion engine.
•
Strong hands-on experience with React.js including functional components,
hooks, Context API, component lifecycle, and performance optimization.
•
Good understanding of Next.js concepts including server-side rendering
(SSR), static site generation (SSG), incremental static regeneration
(ISR), file-based routing, middleware, and API routes — applicable to PWA
Kit SSR patterns on Managed Runtime.
•
Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript ES6+, HTML5, CSS3, and SCSS.
•
Experience with React Query or similar patterns for server state
synchronization and API data management.
•
Strong experience integrating storefronts with SFCC Shopper APIs (SCAPI)
and OCAPI using RESTful patterns.
•
Familiarity with Einstein Recommendations API, Shopper Search API, Shopper
Products API, and Shopper Baskets API.
•
Understanding of SFCC authentication flows including PKCE, client
credentials, and shopper JWT token handling.
•
Hands-on experience with sfcc-ci CLI for automated SFCC cartridge
deployment, sandbox management, and code activation.
•
Experience with WebDAV-based SFCC deployments and cartridge upload
workflows.
•
Experience with PWA Kit Managed Runtime deployment including bundle
packaging and environment promotion.
•
Proficiency with build tools and package managers including Webpack, Vite,
npm, Yarn, or pnpm within SFCC build pipelines.
•
Understanding of SFCC CDN caching, page-level cache headers, and cache
invalidation strategies.
•
Ability to configure and manage environment variables and build
configurations across SFCC sandbox, staging, and production.
•
Strong understanding of Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) and practical
experience improving storefront scores.
•
Experience with performance techniques including lazy loading, code
splitting, bundle optimization, image optimization, and resource
sequencing.
•
Knowledge of SEO best practices including JSON-LD structured data, meta
tags, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and AI crawler readiness.
•
Good understanding of responsive design, mobile-first development,
cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility (WCAG standards).
•
Hands-on experience with Git-based workflows, branching strategies, pull
requests, and code reviews.
•
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
(GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket ) and
frontend deployment automation.
•
Familiarity with frontend testing approaches within SFCC including
Commerce API mocking and unit testing of SFRA/PWA Kit modules.
•
Knowledge of security best practices for frontend applications including
secure API token handling, CSP headers, and dependency vulnerability
management.
Nice to Have
•
Experience with hybrid headless SFCC architecture combining SFRA
server-rendered pages with React micro-frontends or native mobile app
integration.
•
Experience with SFCC Page Designer component development and Content
Library management.
•
Familiarity with Akamai CDN configuration in the context of SFCC
deployments.
•
Experience with Google Tag Manager, TealiumIQ, or similar tag management
systems within SFCC storefronts.
