Position Summary
The Plant Head will provide strategic and operational leadership for a large
manufacturing facility, ensuring world-class standards in safety, quality,
productivity, cost management, compliance, and people development. The role
will be responsible for driving manufacturing performance, continuous
improvement initiatives, operational excellence programs, and delivering
business objectives aligned with the company's growth strategy.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned manufacturing leader with experience
managing large-scale process manufacturing operations in industries such as
Sugar, Ethanol, Distillery, FMCG, Chemicals, Engineering, Power Equipment, or
Heavy Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Leadership & Operations
-
Lead end-to-end plant operations including manufacturing, maintenance,
utilities, warehousing, and logistics.

Deliver annual production targets while ensuring optimum utilization of
plant assets and resources.

Drive operational efficiency through Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and
Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), plant
productivity, and operational KPIs.

Ensure uninterrupted production through effective capacity planning and
resource management.
Safety, Health & Environment (EHS)
-
Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all statutory,
environmental, and occupational health regulations.

Drive Zero Harm initiatives and implement world-class safety management
systems.
-
Ensure adherence to sustainability and environmental standards.
Quality & Compliance
-
Ensure compliance with quality management systems and regulatory
requirements.
-
Drive continuous quality improvement programs and customer satisfaction
initiatives.
-
Maintain adherence to ISO, GMP, Food Safety, and industry-specific standards
as applicable.
Maintenance & Reliability
-
Lead preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.

Minimize downtime and improve asset reliability through effective
maintenance planning.

Drive modernization and automation initiatives to enhance operational
performance.
Cost & Financial Management
-
Manage plant budgets, manufacturing costs, and capital expenditure projects.
-
Identify opportunities for cost optimization and productivity improvement.
-
Ensure achievement of annual operational and financial targets.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
-
Coordinate with procurement, planning, and logistics teams to ensure smooth
plant operations.

Optimize inventory levels and improve material management processes.
-
Strengthen vendor and contractor management practices.
People Leadership
-
Lead and develop a workforce comprising production, engineering, quality,
maintenance, and support teams.

Build a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and succession
planning.

Drive employee engagement, capability building, and talent development
initiatives.
Strategic Initiatives
-
Support capacity expansion, greenfield/brownfield projects, and technology
upgrades.

Lead digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives within the plant.

Collaborate with corporate leadership to execute long-term business
strategies.

Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial,
Production, or related Engineering discipline.

MBA/PGDM preferred.
Experience
-
18–25+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 5–8 years in a Plant
Head / Factory Head / Operations Head role.
-
Experience managing large-scale process manufacturing operations.
-
Strong exposure to Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, Operational
Excellence, and EHS systems.
-
Experience in Sugar, Ethanol, Distillery, FMCG, Chemical, Process
Manufacturing, Engineering Equipment, or Heavy Manufacturing sectors
preferred.
