Job Title: EnS (Environmental & Social) Manager – IVC
Location: Abidjan, IVC
Reporting To: Head – Environmental & Social (EnS)
Experience: Minimum years in ESG / Environmental & Social domain
Qualification: Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability,
Agriculture, or
related field
Language Requirement: French (Mandatory); knowledge of local languages is an
advantage
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage Environmental & Social (E&S) and ESG
activities across Nigeria
operations, ensuring effective ESAP (Environmental & Social Action
Plan) implementation,
regulatory compliance, and integration of sustainability practices within the
agricultural value
chain, including farmer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
E&S and ESAP Implementation
Lead implementation and monitoring of ESAP actions across Nigeria operations
Ensure compliance with lender requirements (e.g., IFC, BII) and national
regulations
Track E&S action items, ensure timely closure, and maintain proper
documentation
Support internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness
ESG Management & Reporting
Oversee ESG data collection, validation, and reporting for Nigeria
operations
Prepare periodic reports, dashboards, and updates for group-level management
Ensure alignment with international standards (IFC Performance Standards,
GRI,
etc.)
Identify E&S risks and develop mitigation strategies
Agriculture & Farmer Engagement
Design and implement sustainability programs for farmers and outgrowers
Conduct training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), climate-smart
agriculture,
and sustainability compliance
Strengthen farmer cooperatives and support productivity and quality
improvement
initiatives
Promote traceability systems and responsible sourcing practices
Drive awareness on environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and
social
responsibility
Stakeholder Engagement & Grievance Mechanism
Implement and manage grievance mechanisms for workers, farmers, and
communities
Engage with local communities, NGOs, and partners to ensure smooth project
execution
Address social and environmental risks proactively
Field Coordination & Implementation
Work closely with operations, procurement, and supply chain teams to
integrate ESG
requirements
Conduct regular site visits and field assessments to monitor compliance
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of E&S activities
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and E&S risk management
Hands-on experience in ESAP implementation and audit coordination
Knowledge of agricultural sustainability and farmer engagement models
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Data analysis, reporting, and documentation capability
Ability to work in field-based and multi-location environments
Preferred Requirements:
Experience working in Nigeria or West Africa
Familiarity with agri-commodity supply chains (e.g., cocoa, cashew, sesame,
etc.)
Exposure to international standards such as IFC, BII, EUDR, or similar
Experience with digital tools, GIS, or traceability systems
