Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in domestic and international API and Intermediates markets.
  • Generate leads and convert opportunities into long-term business relationships.
  • Develop and execute strategic BD initiatives/plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
  • Handle end-to-end business development activities from inquiry generation to commercial closure.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and ensure repeat business.
  • Conduct market intelligence activities to identify competitor trends, pricing, and business opportunities.

2. International Business Development

  • Lead business development activities across regulated and semi-regulated markets.
  • Coordinate with overseas customers, agents/distributors, and business associates for market expansion and global footprint.
  • Develop strong understanding of country-specific API market requirements and customer expectations.
  • Participate in international exhibitions, pharma expos, conferences, and customer meetings.
  • Travel extensively for business meetings, customer visits, and market development activities across various countries.

3. Customer & Commercial Management

  • Prepare customized business proposals, quotations, presentations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Coordinate with Teams responsible for Market Intelligence, Regulatory Affairs, QA, SCM, Production, and Finance teams for smooth order execution.
  • Monitor customer requirements, forecasts, and business pipelines.
  • Ensure timely response to customer inquiries and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Support contract discussions, agreements, and payment follow-ups.

4. Strategic Growth Initiatives

  • Develop strategies for product promotion and global market penetration.
  • Explore new territories, strategic alliances, and channel partnerships.
  • Drive portfolio expansion by identifying high-potential API products and market opportunities.
  • Support management in achieving long-term business growth objectives.

Key Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of API/Pharmaceutical business and global markets.
  • Knowledge of regulated and semi-regulated market requirements.
  • Experience in international business development and export business.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and customer management skills.
  • Understanding of pharma industry trends, competition, and product positioning.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and networking skills.
  • Experience in Market Intelligence platforms and New Product Portfolio identification and management

Qualification and Experiences

  • Education: B.Pharm / M.Pharm / MBA (Marketing / International Business) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: 08 to 10 years of experience in API Business Development with strong exposure to international markets.
  • Must have experience in handling customers across multiple countries.
  • Candidate should be ready to travel extensively for business purposes, both domestic and international.
